Why are you contributing to this PR craze Loren? You know that Google loves this stuff as it gets people to talk about it, but why does this really mean anything in the large scheme of things? Does it? I don’t think so. Only Google knows the real PR for any page. The only real reason they bother to do any updates at all is for all the PR (public relations) they receive for doing so.

I think your ranking is also based on individual pages. You could rank really well for one page as their is a ton of links pointing to it from other related stories linking to yours.

Versus a page that doesn't rank very well due to the nature of the page and few links.

You've spotted the flaw in the PageRank system - it isn't a measure of actual site performance, more a measure of potential. You find some very high traffic sites are high up in the search engine results, due to targeted keywords and quality content, but don't have a PageRank because they have few inbound links. Likewise you find some very low traffic sites have a high PageRank because they have a nice flow of internal and external links. PageRank is over-rated anyway - it only comes into play if you intend to sell advertising space.

Yich, I also think this blog should have a higher PR than my daddy blog. My daddy blog does have a little more traffic than this site (the Alexa data is skewed by the geeks who visit this site) and I do post more often on my daddy blog. In addition, I also leave comments on parent oriented sites. You have actually given me a good idea for my next post - comparing the two blogs and figure out why my daddy blog has a higher pr. Look for it this week.

I am a bit confused. Your daddy blog is about 5 months old and it has a page rank 6.

Your izachy blog is about 6 months old, and has more traffic (based traffic information from alexa.com), and it has a page rank 5.

Any idea why? Does the secret of getting a high page rank lie in having a main "theme" for content (meaning, your daddy blog is about parenting, kids, daddy, mummy, kids, kids kids, while your izachy blog has varied topics)

I am kinda new to this, so would like to hear your opinion.
