No, I'm not sure. My thinking is that YouTube videos are downloaded directly from YouTube to the visitor's browser. If the bandwidth counts on your server, that would imply the video is downloaded to your server first, then sent to the visitor's browser. That might be how YouTube works, but that would not be how things are normally done. For instance, when Google Adsense serves an image/video ad on a site, that is usually loaded directly into a visitor's browser instead of sent to your web host and then to the visitor. That would be very ineffiecient.

Are you sure the bandwidth is with YouTube and not your site? I added an embedded YouTube video to my page and within days I had exceeded my bandwidth limit, making me think the bandwidth is still counted against your site, even if it is hosted on YouTube.

Also I believe that making a video private on YouTube means that you can email the link to 25 people only. You have to put in the email addresses into YouTube and it will send them a private invite to view the video.

If you don't want to share your video, you can make them private. I have not tried the private option so I'm not sure how it works.

Is there a way to put videos on Google Video or Youtube, then embed them on your site, then make it so the only way you can watch the videos is through your site?

If bandwidth is an issue, you should keep it on youtube. The media files I post tend to be small so I don't have the same bandwidth problem you do.

I think the download=hide is to hide the download progress bar, not to hide the file. Were you using youtube before coolplayer?

I have never used the Google blog tools before so I don't know. With Wordpress, I just copy and paste the YouTube code into the post.

Waikman,

The bandwidth to play the Google, YouTube, Yahoo videos are not counted against your web hosting bandwidth. It's only counted if the video resides on your site.

I have one question about this and maybe you know the answer. I can see that you have your own blog and embedded this 3 videos in it, obviously the videos are hosted in youtube, google and yahoo, my question is :

If someone plays these videos, how is the bandwidth counted in terms of hosting (not for the end-client side) ?, is it counted towards your website (hosting company) or is it counted towards youtube, google or yahoo?

Thank you.
