With this new version, you no longer have to hack the plugin to use a local version of the RPC Server. You can specify the location of the server in the admin area (options -> coolplayer). By default, the plugin points to a RPC Server in China. But you can easily change it now. Not only that, you can also set options and test the plugin from the admin page:
Note: It appears your web server needs to support php mbstring and sockets extension in order for the RPC Server to work locally. So if you can't get the RPC Server to work locally, you will have to use the RPC Server in China.
The new version of CoolPlayer supports both the plain text editor and the rich text editor in WordPress. Now you can insert the coolplayer tag directly from the create/edit post page by clicking on the coolplayer button. This version also fixed the auto play problem in FireFox. Now the video doesn't auto start unless you want it to. The audio player also has a new skin:

It also supports YouTube, Ifilm, VSocial, TuDou Video, Evil Chili, Wildko, Yikers Videos & Games, Red Balcony Videos & Games, Live Video, Odeo Audio, Revver, MetaCafe, MySpace, GoEar, Break, Stupid Videos, DailyMotion and Google Video.
The installation is fairly simple. Just download, extract, upload folder to your plugin directory, and activate. I recommend testing the player plugin first before uploading the RPC Server locally. To install the RPC Server: download, extract, upload the files to your coolplayer folder, and activate. Then change the location in the options -> coolplayer menu.

The embedded player supports IE, Firefox, Opera, or other Linux/Unix browsers. I don't have a Mac so I have no idea if the video will play in a Mac browser. Does anyone out there know?
One feature I would like to see added is the ability to display a static image for the video. It would be nice if visitors could see a picture instead of a black box in the video player.

but Is it has to do with your server?
can be a logo (gif/png) inserted at corner of player?

Hi,
unfortunately Coolplayer 9.3 does not work with the k2-Theme. It breaks the advanced navigation (which uses ajax). You can watch it on http://blog.nerathor.com . On pages 2, 4 and others, where cooplayer is used before the tag, it breaks the navigation. If it´s after the tag, it doesn´t break up (last page: "Die dicke Anna").
Will it be fixed?

You can use the default if you didn't install the RPC server on your server.
Hi everyone! The default RPC server has been down for long time now. My host doesn't support it so I can't play my files. My site is a very private and has less then one visit per day. I use to have the rpc server installed on my server, but somone was overloading my server and I had to remove it. Sorry.
I was just running WordPress 2.3.3 and the CoolPlayer TinyMCE button was there, along with other plugin buttons, I upgraded to 2.5 and the CoolPlayer button disappeared. the embedding code still works fine on my installs, but the button cannot be found! any way to patch that? clearing browser cache and force-refreshing don't do it!

Hopefully the developer will have an update soon. I still have not upgraded to wp2.5.

hi there.
running wp 2.5.1 and coolplayer activated without any problems, but the insert buttons are not available neither when using visual mode neither in html mode.
any news on this issue?
I tried switching to amp media player but when clicking those insert buttons I get errors in firebug using firefox, so I am stuck :-(

Hi from France. Coolplayer died on my 3 blogs as soon as I upgraded to wordpress 2.6… Seems podpress is down to, even if there is a hack (that didnt work for me).
As anyone got an answer ?
